cycling 2030
Building on the momentum of the first world bicycle day on June 3rd,
Cycling 2030 aims to advance the cycling agenda in Lebanon through a coalition of diverse entities. The initiative pushes for the adoption and implementation of a complete cycling strategy as part of an overarching urban transport strategy by 2030.
The idea behind the initiative is to start a conversation and lay the foundations for an active, inclusive eco-system of stakeholders that will help shape a sustainable strategy for cycling and eventually mobility in urban Lebanon.
World Bicycle Day Celebration
The first World Bicycle Day took place this past Sunday 3 of June. The UN resolution which created this event was in fact co-authored by Lebanon! A coalition of civil society actors including The Chain Effect and LiveLoveLebanon organized a successful event in downtown Beirut, which gathered 250 bikers and was televised live on June 2nd.
